Learn how to use your Cleo cat-shaped colander for draining pasta and serving with ease. Get practical tips for care and best results.
Quick answer
The Cleo cat-shaped colander is actually a silicone bottle cleaner, not a colander. For draining pasta, use a proper colander. But Cleo excels at cleaning bottles and adding whimsy to your kitchen routine.
Why Cleo isn't a colander
Despite its name, Cleo is designed as a bottle cleaner with soft silicone bristles. It's not built to hold hot pasta or withstand boiling water. Using it as a colander could damage the silicone or cause burns.
OTOTO DESIGN created Cleo to bring wild charm to bottle cleaning. Its lion shape and flexible bristles make it perfect for scrubbing narrow necks and reaching bottoms. But it's not a strainer.
What Cleo does best
Cleo's soft silicone bristles are gentle on glass and plastic, so you can clean baby bottles, water bottles, and vases without scratching. The lion head adds a playful touch to your sink area.
For draining pasta, stick with a metal or heat-resistant colander. Cleo is for cleaning, not cooking. Keep it in your cleaning caddy, not your pot rack.
Diagnosis: Is Cleo right for your task?
- Symptom: You want to drain pasta or serve food and consider using Cleo. Cleo is not a colander. It's a bottle cleaner.
- Likely cause: The name 'Cleo Cat Colander' may suggest it's for straining, but OTOTO designed it as a bottle brush. Check the product description before use.
- Corrective action: Use Cleo for its intended purpose: cleaning bottles, vases, and narrow containers. For draining pasta, use a heat-resistant colander. Keep Cleo in your cleaning tools, not your cookware.
- Stop or choose another option: If you need a colander, look for a dedicated metal or silicone colander. Cleo will not perform that job safely. Choose the right tool for the task to avoid damage or injury.
Product facts
- Cleo: Cleo is a lion silicone bottle cleaner with soft, flexible silicone bristles designed to leave bottles spotless. This means Cleo is ideal for gentle, thorough cleaning of bottles and narrow containers, but not for hot or heavy-duty tasks like draining pasta.
